I use quantitative and qualitative approaches to understand how biodiversity and society interact. I am currently focussed on, and working towards, describing biodiversity change and its drivers, and identifying pathways towards biodiversity protection and recovery, all whilst balancing the needs of people and society. My research portfolio falls into two interconnected branches: biodiversity change - where I develop models, theory, and indicators of biodiversity change; and human-nature interactions - where I assess how humans use, perceive and relate to nature and our environment.
